There are some smaller ones, some startup ones.
So I guess compare your options.
There's different fees out there.
They don't do it for free.
And sadly, brokerage in Australia is not as cheap as it is in the US.
So I guess that does make you consider every purchase you make because brokerage can hit you hard.
I think most Australian brokers are sort of, if you're not talking about huge amounts of money, anything over $1,000 is $19.95 a trade usually.
So it's part ownership in a company.
So a company could have as little as two shares.
You could just be starting a business with a friend and you could have 50-50 ownership of the company and you both own one of the shares each.
So the company is made up of two shares.
So it could be as small as that.
You might have a small business and have multiple business partners and have different shares and someone might have put more money in so they might own three-fifths of the company.
So it can be as small as that.
And then when you're on these massive listed companies that have millions and millions of shares and all sorts of people can own, massive companies can own different amounts of that company.
So you can actually choose how much of the company you want to buy and you want to buy 500 shares.
So you own 500 out of however many shares there are.
It's all relative.
It's just a different way of cutting up the company.
