So it might be, you know, I'm grateful that I don't have a boss looking over my shoulder every day.
And then you turn one negative into a positive.
So you know something's coming up, you maybe don't like it.
Like I hate, I'm so fearful of speaking in public, but I'm so grateful that I can be up here.
So I've turned that negative into a positive.
And I promise you four things.
If you do this for one week, firstly, you'll be on the lookout for positive things.
Secondly, this negativity will flow on into more positive thoughts.
Thirdly, you'll avoid negative people.
If we are the average of the five people closest to us, you'll begin to gravitate towards those who are more positive.
And the fourth thing, and how this ties into financial independence, you'll begin to notice that the things that you're grateful for have very little to do with money.
So how much do you need to be happy?
Daniel Kahneman and Dayton, there's a study online, it's a bit controversial, but they say after $75,000 per year, your emotional well-being is less likely to increase.
So there are other studies which say that you need $200,000 or something like that, good for you if you're making that sort of money, but unfortunately for you, or maybe fortunately, I don't know, you're not going to be any happier because you make so much more money.
And that's something that people forget.
They think, again, hanging out for what's next.
$75,000, I mean, if you're in a single income household, it can get quite tough to save, but you can do it.
Another way to put this is, and this is probably something that you've heard before, is past a certain level of income, what you need is just what sits below your ego.
One of the most powerful ways to increase your savings isn't to raise your income, but your humility.
And you would have heard me say before if you listened to the podcast that Charlie Munger says, envy is the only one of the seven deadly sins that you can forget about because you get no pleasure from it.
