And my grandmother lived through the Depression as a child in Malta.
So she knew what it was like.
Well, they lived in the village.
They lived in a village called Nashar in Malta.
And it was incredibly isolated.
And we have to imagine the time in the 30s, 20s and 30s,
living in a tiny village, cut off.
There were no phones.
