Like our driveway was like two dirt tracks up there. It was like a real mountain. That's why the cat died. There's cougars and bears and all kinds of... And you're an only child.

I don't know what the competition was like. No memory of that. I got the role. Winthrop, the music man, it's a significant role. He's a boy with a lisp who's very quiet and shy. I was very quiet and shy, but he comes out of his shell when he learns to play something in a band. So I loved just the camaraderie.

I loved it. I actually said that night, like, I want to do this for the rest of my life. You know, that little boy was not aware of all the implications or what it would take or that it was ever feasible, that it was actually delusional and basically not feasible. But yeah, and people very quickly. And why they do this, I don't know, but...

If you're in any town close to like a major city, like a satellite for L.A., like there's Seattle, there's Florida, like Tampa. A lot of kids come from Florida. There's other places, maybe Chicago. But if you're in a certain town, people will say, you should try going to L.A. I mean, it's not good advice. It's just not good advice.
