We need to take a step back.

You know, we're not the only political party that's had a tough weekend and suffered defeat.

It is disappointing, but we need to take a step back and assess what happened, how it happened and what we can do better into the future.

No, I think it's wider than the leadership.

I think we all have a personal collective responsibility.

And for myself as a backbench TD and our ministers and our leadership, we all have to look at ourselves in terms of what we can do better, whether that be regarding our messages and what we can do to convince voters that Fianna Fáil still offers something distinct and relevant at a time when people are looking for faster delivery on housing, on infrastructure, on public services.

And that's the reality of the situation.
