I know Sam always talks about โ because Sam covers the Chiefs like he's a beat guy, even though he's a columnist.
But Sam always says he loves the bye week because he gets to watch all the other teams.
And so much of his day is he doesn't get to watch the early games when the Chiefs play at three.
He gets the whole weekend to watch all the other games.
But I just think at some point, listen, there's nothing wrong with marking your turf longer in the year.
I mean, they have the shortest season of any professional sports league anywhere as far as when it starts and when it ends on playing games.
And I think, you know, I mean, soccer shuts down for two and three weeks.
Formula One takes a summer break for like four weeks.
You know, NASCAR might I might be forgetting NASCAR golf.
And you might say NASCAR is, and I say it is with the pit crews and everything.
But they probably have a longer season because they get going in February and don't end until November.
But amongst what we consider the traditional team sports, they got by far the shortest.
I mean, that's the carrot I'd hang in front of the Players Association to get them to sign off on the 18 games is we're going to give you another week off and we're going to agree to not schedule you on a Wednesday without a bye week in front of it.
And I think it's also the reason why they're creeping the schedule back right now is to get us used to it going halfway into January so that the Christmas Day game falls in a week where it can be a bye.
If Christmas is the last week, you can't do a bye.
If it's the next to last week, it's kind of unfair to anyone who's a playoff team to get that screwy schedule like the Chiefs had a couple of years ago.
And so I think they're already setting us up for that transition.
