It was the way he managed himself around the course, the way he practised, the way he thought about his golf, the way he thought about developing his golf.
And it helped me a lot explain things to footballers about the commitment that they have to make or the
the way that they should think in certain situations.
So, you know, attitude control, you know, training regimes, you know, building on your weaknesses, playing to your strengths.
The golf book helped me enormously in the way that I spoke to footballers and the way that we planned football sessions.
And even today, I'm still, you know,
I love the mental side of golf and the technical side of golf and how people find it so difficult to play.
And even the greatest players in the game can go in and out of form based purely on very technical stuff or mental stuff that beats them, you know.
There's always that, particularly when you got into coaching.
I never thought this way as a player.
Never, ever thought this way as a player.
But I had a couple of really great coaches as a player that were more of an inspiration.
I think when you're coached by someone who inspires you to want to coach, there's one thing.
And most footballers, we don't learn the game until our body gives out.
We get to 30 years of age and suddenly we've got all this knowledge and we've realised how much we've stuffed up or how much we did wrong or why was I worrying about that or that.
And now my body won't play the game anymore.
So we want to help the younger players come through and stay involved in the game.
