basically allows, as God in flesh, Satan to tempt him.
And I've always thought he had to have done that for us.
I mean, one is because to show us he's human.
And then the Hebrew writer would later say he was tempted in every way, just like we are as a man, so that we wouldn't miss his humanity.
But then, of course, we don't miss his divinity either because he didn't succumb.
And so I've always thought that he showed us the way to deal with Satan.
And again, in general, we're not Jesus, but we're in Jesus.
And so the very fact that the three ways that he did it, that he went about it, first by saying, it's not just my mere humanity.
I know you're hungry.
Just turn the rocks into bread.
What's the big deal?
Eat something.
Man doesn't live on bread alone.
Eat the words of God.
And then he goes up at the point of the temple, which the whole temple motif we talk about all the time on this podcast.
And it's like, cast yourself down a man.
There's a scripture.
And then Satan quotes the scripture.
You know, he was not allowing anything to happen to you.
We're not putting the Lord, our God to the test.
