I'm not saying I'm not, but I'm probably better at writing about therapy than practicing it because I get very impatient because I see the end goal and I kind of want to push my clients faster than they want to go to the end goal.
And you shouldn't do that.
You should go at the client's pace.
So I do have the odd fault.
But as humans, we all struggle with X, Y and Z. I've never met anyone who hasn't got an inner critic of some sort or other.
And I think the difference between people is those that take the inner critic too seriously and become the inner critic and those that can observe it and think, not today, thank you.
Hmm.
I think that is a big theme for most people.
Well, I just wonder where Donald Trump's inner critic is.
Okay, he hasn't got one.
And maybe if you haven't got one, you do go mad.
You're a sociopath.
I don't know.
I think it is maybe a symptom of sociopathy.
I mean, it's quite good to have a helpful critic, isn't it?
So you have to know what is a self-sabotaging inner critic and what is quite useful feedback for doing better next time.
And I think how you tell the difference is that
A bad inner critic is a generalised, this is no good, this is terrible.
Whereas a useful one is you got those bits right.
This bit could do with a bit of fine tuning, but that bit's working well.
