And for us, like deepening our level of commitment to the church falsely was just such a betrayal to ourselves, you know, knowing how we both felt about the church and God in general.

I mean, we were heading down atheism.

Like that's how much we were like far gone the other way.

I'm probably now more like agnostic, I would say.

But what got me through it was Matt.

saying to me, anything good that's worthwhile is always, you have to fight for it.

Anything good usually comes with a bit of a tough road.

And it's like, if it's worth fighting for, it's usually a bit hard.

It never comes easily.

There's always some resistance.

And he said, guaranteed, if you do this, your parents will respect you more.

Because I was just kind of

getting by by lying to my parents, like saying, oh, sorry, yeah, I miss church because I had something on, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

But with the Mormon church, like people actually keep a record of when you go.

So there's a role sort of like they actually see members of the congregation that are attending or not attending.

So as soon as you don't go, they'll send a member to your church, a member to your house and going, oh, is everything okay, blah, blah, blah, blah.

And, you know, to keep me on the straight and narrow.

And Matt's like, if you don't want them to keep doing that, like you're going to have to just front up and do it, get it over and done with.

But yeah, my mum in particular took it pretty bad.
