Uh, they got blown up in Havana Harbor.
My great, great uncle was killed on that.
And like, nobody in my family knew this.
My, my grandfather told me not long before he died.
So it was like not a secret.
Just, you know, like they just didn't know typical Irish families back then.
They didn't talk about shit.
I was down at Arlington National Cemetery, and I saw that once of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ceremony there, and then I looked at the map, and I see USS Maine Memorial.
I said, I got to go over there, check this out.
And they went back sometime later, and they got the mask from the ship, and they put a memorial with the mask in a big cylinder of concrete.
And I look up, and there's my great-great-uncle's name, Hugh McGonigal, at Arlington National.
Wow.
No idea.
Like, you know, again, hallowed ground.
You go there.
It's just such a solemn place.
And we had no idea.
Our family name was on a stone there.
Because they went back and they got a lot of the remains and brought them back.
And they were actually the first soldiers and sailors that were killed overseas and buried at our international.
