I am glad that they both got lengthy sentences, I will say that, but the fact that neither of them had to actually answer for the physical abuse Oakley suffered is just infuriating.
So as of right now, in the case, we have a mom who stole her children from the father that loved them.
Even though she never wanted those kids, she put them in danger by taking them across the country with a man who had already proven himself to be violent.
She then stood by as he beat her and eventually beat her to death and then helped him cover it up after.
We then have a mother who knew about the whole thing and said nothing.
Her concern wasn't for an innocent two-year-old baby.
It was for her violent son.
They also had a roommate who knew about the physical abuse, yet didn't report it.
I understand that he probably didn't want to report it because he didn't want to get in trouble for drugs, but come on.
A two-year-old and a seven-month-old baby were living in that home with a man who he knew was violent and abusive.
Then Roan's brother, who at least knew some of what was going on, still helping Madison escape, still saying nothing.
And then his sister, Kiona.
I don't think that she knew Oakley was killed.
I don't think she was told, at least by Madison or Roan, but she knew about the abuse.
She saw the bruises.
Yet, none of these adults did anything to help her.
No one called CPS.
No one thought that maybe this child would be better off with her father.
No one stepped in to do anything.
I am very thankful that seven-month-old Colton was spared in all of this, but absolutely heartbroken that Oakley was treated so horrendously in her very short time on this earth.
