And I think we engage, and I say we meaning Democrats, engage in bringing cultural wars to schools and then found out we were on the losing side of those cultural debates.

And politics is about picking where you want to have a battle.

And I think we made a big strategic mistake.

We took our eye off of educational excellence, went into a cultural landscape, and found out we didn't have the public with us.
