And then we had phase two of the Little Ice Age.
Some of the famous paintings like of George Washington crossing the Delaware and the stories of Valley Forge when it was so bitterly cold, and the soldiers there, their feet were freezing and they had frostbite.
This was during like the peak of the Little Ice Age.
And that little ice age came to an end roughly around 1850, and we went into what is the modern warming period.
So I've maintained all along, look, there was natural, because we're not pumping any significant amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in 1850 to 1900.
In fact, our contribution to carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere didn't even show up as a signal till World War II.
So it wasn't really doing any warming until roughly World War II at all.
Yet we'd had a century of the climate warming naturally.
So I try to point out, look, before we jump on the bandwagon of anthropogenic global warming, we need to understand the natural forces involved.
And actually, this is a very benign time.
In terms of the long term, you know.
Right.
That's exactly right.
You just said flourishing.
Perfect word to use, flourishing.
We're flourishing because of the warmth.
And if we were to go back into the Little Ice Age, well, yeah, that would put enormous stress on our food production system.
That's why, you know, I think the Bible said, you know, store away seven years worth of provisions.
You know, there's definitely, like in the book of Daniel, definitely they're encouraging people to be preppers, you know?
And right now, we've seen during COVID, I don't know if out in Austin, but certainly here in the Atlanta area, there was a period walking into the grocery stores and half the shelves were empty.
