Like, if you paid attention to Jim Rutherford's comments at the postseason press conference, he was hinting at it.

He was essentially saying, you know, I'll go through the draft and then we'll see.

You know, Jim is pretty open.

And to me, that sounded like, all right, we're going to see a change post-draft.

And, you know, having an advisor makes sense.

It's you're involved, you're there, you're essentially there as a, you know, somebody that can provide guidance if needed, but not a part of the day to day.

The interesting part of the NHL alternate governor, which is, you know, a pretty big deal.

You act as a team representative board of governor meeting.

You're authorized to vote on things at those meetings.

And that's the the element that makes.

it makes it interesting for me because it's not necessarily an individual that's going to be gone immediately like in terms of an advisor uh you could say okay maybe hey go home we'll call you when we need you or you know this also implies that he's going to be at league you know meetings and board of governor meetings and has the ability to be there there's no guarantee so i thought that was the interesting part to me because that could imply that

Even with a new person on the job, whether that's the president of hockey operations, whether that's a new general manager, there is a path for Jim Rutherford to be still involved on the business side.

And we know that of all the things now that are going on with this organization, he's taken ownership over basically the practice rink and wants to help to get that across the line at some point in here.

And what this signal to me was, from a business perspective, you may still be involved, but from a day-to-day team operations, that's going to be the new person's responsibility.

But the overall announcement and when that question was asked, did that shock me?

No, I thought...

I thought Jim kind of hinted at it there in, you know, a couple of weeks ago, guys.

So to see him make that announcement, essentially saying I'm going to step away from day to day, that did not surprise me at all.

That is the hope.
