I can't say it shakes him up, it wakes him up slowly.

And then he starts kind of, you know, he's always obviously been a deep thinker, but he starts thinking about all the usual kind of Elizabeth Strout things about the unknowability of others.

I don't even know if that's a word.

You know, the fact that we are all essentially on our own and he thinks about things like free will.

You know, is there such a thing as free will?

They've been talking about that since Socrates.

But it's a book, I suppose, about it is actually about loneliness.

Yeah, it is.

But that's what I think anyway.

A sad book, but again, very profound.

I love the fact that her characters are just normal people.

You know, it's like normal life, normal people.

And like, I do that all the time.

You know, when you're just looking at somebody, you could just be in the supermarket and look at somebody and go, I wonder what her life is.

I wonder what she's doing.

So it's like, it's nothing standout.

These are not like people who you go, wow, what a life.

Well, Artie did win Teacher of the Year.

Yeah, but he's very gentle with that.
