So I suppose that begs the question, why are we hearing so much about it now?
And why are so many people getting a diagnosis of ADHD?
You know, Suzanne O'Sullivan, she's a neuroscientist.
But in her latest book, Age of Diagnosis, she writes about ADHD and she asks certain questions about it.
And one of the things, and this is sort of a...
Not her exact words, but she reckons that the criteria for diagnosis has been broadened.
So then you have more people being diagnosed.
So there's greater demand then for limited resources.
She also questions the fact is, if you are an adult and you get a diagnosis of ADHD, what good does it do you?
And she says for some people that she has spoken to, that it can be a negative because they now have something that might in their heads, you know, their sort of self-image, it might limit them in what they can do.
Yeah, but your diagnosis was 18 years ago, so you can't be accused of that.
Well, if it is a genuine diagnosis, I think it should be used as an excuse.
This is sort of an important aspect of the whole thing.
So you get an ADHD diagnosis and you go, that explains a lot of my behaviour.
