That way, he has an alibi.
Later that night, he goes home, and he starts calling several of Tina's friends, and he asks if they've seen her, because, you know, she's missing.
And he's, like, pretending to be all worried and stuff.
Now, these friends, they've obviously not heard from Tina, and she's not the type to just disappear on everyone.
So immediately, they know something's wrong.
And so they begin searching for her.
And of course, the police are now involved.
Two days later, police find Tina in the backseat of her truck.
And she apparently still has all her jewelry on, so police know this wasn't just a robbery gone wrong, this was a planned murder.
Meanwhile, Tina's friends and family start noticing that Joe, he's been acting strange lately.
Like, he's not acting like someone who just lost his wife.
First, he starts getting rid of all of Tina's belongings.
Her clothes, her shoes, her Bible.
Then, at the funeral, he's just way too happy.
Like, he's giving people thumbs up, and he's playing inappropriate music, and it seems like he just can't wait for the funeral to be over.
Regardless of how guilty he's acting, police don't have any real evidence against him, so they can't arrest him.
And it's starting to look like Joe might actually get away with all this.
Until... Until this woman steps into the story, Carrie.
Carrie, she's a family friend who once gave Joe $25,000 to put into an annuity for her.
And at some point, Carrie decides that she needs to cash in $10,000 from that annuity, because she needs to pay off some debt or something.
