The boot came up.
They were drunk as skunks.
How we didn't crash that car, I don't know.
Slept on, got kicked off verandas for sleeping on.
Anyway, it was a bit of an adventure.
But when you're young, I think you just take it in.
That's how it is.
Then we got to Darwin and they said, oh, look, we want to walk over Timor.
I knew nothing about Timor.
I don't think too many people did know anything about Timor then.
And I thought, oh, that sounds like a good idea.
So we got on a plane to Dili and we stayed at a hostel in Dili, but the revolution in Portugal had happened.
Yes, right.
Before.
So when the revolution, they were celebrating and they were absolutely fantastic.
I thought the revolution had been won.
I was very naive.
But they just brought out a lot of red wine and we got really wasted.
They took me to a cock fight, which was abhorrent.
And so then we started and it took about eight days to walk.
