I definitely feel like that.
Which is why I was surprised when I heard this next story.
Someone who told me that she's built a life that doesn't depend on money for security.
Jo's life is extreme.
She lives without money, which is a strange thing to say.
But it's something that's only possible because of where she lives and the fact that she leans on the people around her.
She's very upfront about her unique situation.
I called her up not because I think she's a blueprint for how to live, but because, well, first of all, I was just really curious about her life.
But also, I wanted to know what enough can look like when money is no longer the thing you're chasing.
She made the big decision back in 2014.
Money felt like the stand-in for the harms of capitalism, as she saw it.
And at the time, she was reading about this guy named Mark Boyle who'd lived in the UK without money for several years.
