This is tough.
I personally know people who've been in this situation.
I'm thinking of one couple and it did lead to resentment because I think part of it, though, was they just didn't have an open conversation about it.
It was just kind of assumed that that's what they were going to do.
And so I think, you know, similar to what we've been saying, you want to ground it in I statements, right?
Like, you're not saying that
your career is not important.
You're saying like, I'm really scared of losing my support system here and my sense of home and my friends and family and everything that makes my life feel like my life.
And he's probably afraid of not advancing his career.
And so, yeah, I think those are both very real fears.
And I think you can like fall into the trap of feeling like it's a negotiation when really it's a conversation probably about your values and what you're willing to let go and...
And also, I think it's easy to think that something like this will be forever.
You know?
But it might not be.
Yeah.
And you can always go into something with a kind of agreement.
Yeah, this is an experiment.
We're going to see what happens.
And also, if we do do this, then I need to know that, you know, we can afford for me to go home.
