I literally just wrote a song with a lyric, my higher power is

us making out like wow yeah let's talk about my ex I can make somebody watching my story my higher power for an entire day if I'm not careful if I'm not like meditating if I'm not like going out and touching grass and if I'm not connecting to other like-minded crazy people um who I love

It takes a village.

It literally does, and the opposite of addiction is connection.

I don't know if you've heard that one.

They say it's like a wee program.

It's not a selfish program.

If you're listening and you've heard this thing about recovery and sobriety being a selfish thing, it's really not.

It actually is all about service.

Yeah, that's like the only thing that really they emphasize so, so much.

Like, I think it's maybe like 127 times in the first, you know, six chapters of the AA book.

Does it mention you helping a newcomer?

Like...

That's what helps me.

Anytime I'm spiraling about relationships or food or money or lack thereof or whatever the fuck I'm spiraling about.

Because my baseline is I wake up spiraling.

My baseline is my alarm goes off and I'm like, fuck.

I have to really quickly get out of that and get into, okay, where can I be useful today?

Where can I be helpful?
