The storm system is expected to deepen rapidly over the next 24 to 36 hours, bringing moderate to heavy snow to portions of the northeast and southern New England.
There could be some areas in southeastern Massachusetts that see in excess of 20 inches of snowfall, the Boston area 12 to 18 inches, New York City 10 to 16 inches.

While we'll see some snow developing across the district in Baltimore through the day on Sunday and also into the New York City area, the height of the storm for the northeastern part of the country is going to be Sunday night and into the day on Monday.
That's when snowfall rates are going to exceed one inch an hour.
It's also where we're going to see wind gusts over 45 miles an hour.
Blizzard warnings in effect for the Jersey Shore, New York City, coastal Connecticut, Long Island, Rhode Island, and all of eastern Massachusetts.
Elsewhere across the northeast, we're looking at winter storm warnings.

This is going to be a major winter storm from the New York City area on up across parts of southern New England.
We're going to have high winds, heavy snowfall, blizzard conditions are possible in New York City Sunday night and into the day on Monday.
Accumulations 10 to 16 inches for much of New York City, 8 to 14 inches for the New York City suburbs, a foot and a half possible for Long Island, 12 to 18 inches in Boston, and maybe 20 inches in southeastern Massachusetts.
