And I don't know if it's just because she had such an inner strength, but those portraits are like exquisite of her.
What about when you collaborate with people in a more continuous way?
So I know you worked a lot with U2 and I heard initially you weren't actually that interested in working with them because I think you thought they were just like another band.
But then you got to meet them and get to know them and you started collaborating a lot with them.
Like, does it change like your relationship in terms of the photographs you get from them?
Do you look at other photography and do you have heroes of your own?
And what about your friendships with visual artists?
Because I know you were friends with Marlene Dumas and you did portraits of her, but you also both shared a kind of interest in similar subject matter, such as like strippers or like nudity.
I know you also took portraits of like Damien Hirst and other artists, but is that something that's kind of rewarding for you to talk to people that work in different disciplines about making work?
Yeah, it's a work from 2004 from a series called Purple Virgin.
They were kind of nude portraits she did of herself.
And it was actually the return to painting for her.
So they were like some of the first things that she did that then led to her becoming a painter again.
And my friendship with her was actually based around that because I bought that when I was 25.
