He's playing a saxophone with the German words for degenerate music printed over him.

It might be hard to imagine that for a while in the late 20th century, the saxophone was the boogeyman of fascist regimes.

But things that were once taboo often eventually go mainstream.

And the saxophone was no exception.

Instead of remaining a symbol of rebellion, it began to ripple out into a variety of genres.

After the break, Jay is going to play us some of his favorite novelty saxophones from Paul Cohen's Saxophone Museum.
