All the hairdressers, of course, used to get Tuesdays off.
So they were out on a Monday night.
So all the gay waiters and all that were out on a Monday night.
It was a very mixed crowd, though.
And it was kind of playing a mishmash of different kinds of music and all that.
So it had an interesting crowd.
And so I then went there every Monday for a few weeks.
And then eventually I said to the guy who was running the place, Martin Thomas, who's since passed away.
I said to him, if you pay me, I'll come every week.
And that's how I got the first job.
You know, to this day, I'm not exactly 100% sure, but I didn't have to come back from Japan, but it was the obvious thing to do.
Basically, I had a hepatitis.
I don't even know if they ever tested me for HIV at the time.
Anyway, I came home because it was clear that I was going to have to spend some time recuperating.
And I thought, well, I'll do that.
And home to Ballinrobe.
Yeah, well, that was the first... The port of call.
Yeah, port of call.
But I have an older brother who's gay.
