Well, in the family, he was always... They were Mammy and Daddy, we were good Mayo kids.
Mammy and Daddy.
And most of the family still call him Mammy and Daddy.
That's what Mayo people do.
He was certainly the one that I was closest to his passing because we were looking after him for a number of years.
And I was literally holding his hand when he died and all of that.
Yeah, myself, my mother, my sister.
So it was a long goodbye?
Yes, it was about three years of solid looking after and right down to the toilet and all of that we were doing.
And so... What's that like?
It's an odd thing.
There's a lot of, you know, frustrations and stuff, right?
Because it's just not easy.
Our dad was probably in some ways, because there was physical decline, but also dementia and all that.
But he never particularly, he never became mean or any of that, like some people have to deal with.
He was always even right towards the end, pretty good natured all the time.
He would sometimes be frightened by things he didn't understand and then he would sort of lash out.
But he never really became a different person.
He just became a child version of himself, whatever.
