And we've now got, I suspect, nuclear weapons on northern soil in Australia.
Nobody's talking about this.
And this is one of the reasons why I think the news media in Australia has largely fallen asleep and is getting itself ridiculously obsessed with travel expenses scandals that, frankly, I don't think most people give a shit about.
That's,
The excuse that the Americans have been using and a lot of European security commentators have been using for the so-called drones flap that's been occurring over the continental United States and over much of Western Europe and the UK for the past year and a half, two years.
There's been a spate of anomalous objects.
I won't call them drones.
anomalous objects that have been seen over US military bases, civilian aerodromes, and most recently over some of the more sensitive military bases in Western Europe.
And the default explanation is it must be the Ruskies.
And so I've challenged, I've actually spoken on my own show, Reality Check, which I do on News Nation.
I've said, has anyone got any evidence at all to show that this is the pesky Ruskies?
And Vladimir Putin, as I'm sure he would if he was doing it, of course, has denied it.
But we had a situation just recently where one of France's most sensitive ports where they store their nuclear attack submarines was buzzed by apparent drones.
How do you mean buzzed?
What's that mean?
Basically, they overflew this facility and they used counter drone technology unsuccessfully.
Whatever these objects were, the very best counter drone, counter UAS technology that's in the possession of a NATO power was unable to bring them down.
And this has been consistently the case right across Western Europe.
The Germans have had the same trouble, the Danes, the Norwegians, the Belgians, the Brits.
There's been a spate of anomalous objects seen over sensitive military bases and sensitive civil aviation facilities right across Western Europe and the UK.
