Mary, who was a slight young woman, tried to resist John Shaw.
He was trying to push her in and she was struggling.
I grabbed a hold of her and dragged her to the car.
She started to scream.
At the same time, some locals near the road Mary was walking on heard distressing sounds.
She was around just out on the road there with all the houses.
They heard all this merciful screaming and looked out windows, but no.
The screams were so loud, they got one local woman out of bed.
I heard two long hysterical screams outside.
The screams would suggest that there was a girl in distress.
I looked out the window for a few minutes, but I didn't see anybody on the road outside.
I heard a male voice say the words, come on, and I thought it was a call for somebody.
Mary's brother Michael had now arrived into town to pick Mary up.
By now, Sean Evans had Mary in the car and were driving away south.
They drove to Balnahinch in Galway.
The details in the statements the men gave later show that they subjected Mary to a horrific 24 hours.
But they didn't take her home.
We'll never know if at some point Mary realised that the two men who were holding her captive were the men who she'd read about in the Sunday Independent just three days previously.
Join us in our next episode, where GardaΓ finally catch up with Sean Evans.
And the Plunkett family start to get some answers.
