And dad was a pretty big jazz guy.

So he would listen to a lot of Miles Davis and stuff like that.

So we grew up with that kind of music.

And then I suppose...

um partly the punk thing was like a little bit of a reaction against my family's musical background like there's a classical background and stuff like that my dad's um just a kind of professional musician you know played um

as a degree in music you know stuff like that yeah and uh and i i went to university for art so i just i went to elam and studied painting so i didn't have any musical education um so doing punk was kind of like oh it's like we ended up doing music but um we didn't want to do it exactly

like my dad or my auntie or my granddad's kind of way which i suppose is just like pretty typical you don't want to just kind of follow what your parents are doing but you end up kind of doing it anyway
