This explains a lot, because we found a bunch of burned-up bills in our wood-burning stove. At that point, I can't lie my way out of this. There isn't an alibi big enough. And so I had to just come clean. And I said, yeah, you've got the right guy. And the other fellow and his wifeβI won't mention their namesβ They were accomplices, but I'm the guy that you'll want. So I at least gave myself up.

And the secret serviceman that was in charge, his name was Roger Rodak, a really wonderful gentleman, also a Mormon, and I apologize to him for being such a failure in representing the faith that we both adhered to. But he was intrigued by it all. And he asked me 100 questions, 50 of which he knew the answer to.

Anyway, he kind of understood, okay, here's a guy. He's a creative guy. His back was against the wall. He did something thinking way outside the box, and I understand it. And so we became actually very amicable together. Later, he came to my aid in a big way when I faced a federal judge.

Tedious for those guys. Gosh, can you imagine? And they said, I got a corner of a bill and... This bill was only printed on one side because you scrapped it. And he says, it has your thumbprint on it.

It was incriminating. And it was almost cathartic to be able to just confess and say, yeah, it's over. But you've got the guy. And what you're going to do with me, God only knows.
