And when you're young or whatever age, sometimes you're just too close to the sun and you can't see stuff.
And that was the problem.
And I realized the next real company I wanted to give a go at, I really wanted another business co-founder.
I want two people who are just going to be selling and just doing stuff, just kicking ass.
So I wound up finding that guy at Bonobos.
And that guy's name is Cole.
So once I had that, I'm like, cool, let's figure this out.

Let's leave our jobs and get paid $0 and any dollar pizza.
Oh, I can... I won't say my salary, but they offered me $300,000 plus to stay.
So I turned that down to make zero.

year uh it was our first like real full year um i made a little over thirty thousand dollars that year and um i couldn't um i couldn't even get a loan for a wedding the next year even though i had a one of the fastest growing software companies in the country so that's uh when i see the people that girl who worked at yelp writing to the ceo i'm like girl go get a second job i mean that's i'm consulting on the side i'm doing everything possible just to pay a bill here and yeah i'm
no we had a great developer too he was working and he wasn't in the position to go down and make zero dollars and he was someone who's still with us and just if we didn't have him we would have been screwed now we have 40 engineers or so but the original guy Namik he's a specimen so you need someone that's great but he didn't have equity did you give him equity or did you just pay him in cash

I mean, at the beginning, before the company was a company, yeah, it was just paying him.
Actually, I made Bonobos.
When I left Bonobos, I made them pay Bounce Exchange instead of paying me as a consultant, and I was being used to pay a developer.
But once it was full-time, yeah, a lot of equity.
