I think all of those skills that he has are perfect.
That second set of eyes, that ability to get him to think himself out of trouble, to think on his feet, to operate out of structure.
I think there's a real argument for him to be in a 22 role and come on a fullback and affect games from there.
But I don't think it's what Ireland want from their 10.
They want the guy who can see the picture four or five, six phases in a row, think the team through the game.
And I think they see Byrne like they're seeing Byrne with that, but he hasn't been tested enough.
It'd be a huge call to pick him.
And they've given Prendergast the keys.
I mean, Prendergast does everything they want to do in attack.
The concerns over his defence and his ability to live in that kind of power against a French team would be a big, big element.
