They can get the barrel of the pellet gun right up to it, so my father-in-law takes the pellet gun and just kind of pop, pop, pop a few times, you know, cocking it every time.

I don't know exactly how the raccoon gets out of the van, whether it freaks out and is thrashing around and they shoot it more times.

Either way...

It gets out of the van, but it's not dead yet.

It's just, you know, suffering.

So my son grabs the pellet gun, runs up to the raccoon and just pops it in the top of the head with that pellet gun.

And that ended the situation.

That was that.

Which he was pretty proud of himself.

He killed a raccoon with his pellet gun.

It will, in fact, penetrate well enough to kill a raccoon, at least at close range.
