Everybody wants it after that because, I mean, you guys are familiar with the downsides of black powder.
But just to go over them real quick.
First of all, the giant cloud of smoke comes out of the end of your gun.
Kind of a bit of a problem for multiple reasons.
Kind of a buzzkill.
Tells everybody where you're at.
And when you're especially, I mean, by the point you get to the 1880s, we've moved beyond, like, linear warfare and Napoleonic sense.
But still, massive clouds of smoke.
Can't see what the hell you're shooting at.
but powder fouling black powder makes.
So the first bolt action rifle that ever gets mass produced is the Dreiser needle rifle.
The Dreiser has an effective fire rate off the top of my head of like eight rounds per minute, which is insane.
