Hello and welcome along to the Property Academy podcast by Obus Partners.
I'm your host, Sam McKnight.
And this is the show that helps Kiwis go from zero to five investment properties so you can be financially free.
And stick around for the next 15 minutes because you're going to learn how this couple doubled their money with a tiny house, what it's really like living in just 26 square meters, and how they've built three houses in just three years.
And for this case study Sunday, we're welcoming back to the show, Michelle and Hilda.
Welcome back to the show, guys.
Okay, now the other question that I've got to ask you is how do you go about selling a tiny home?
Do you get a real estate agent or do you just take some photos and put it on Trade Me and Facebook Marketplace?
You get a tiny agent.
Yeah, you go online.
I've got to ask you, Hilda, what sort of person, like you don't have to tell me their name and what their new address is, but what sort of person is the buyer of a tiny house when you go to sell it?
Is it a couple like you guys?
I'm assuming it's not, you know, a family with three kids running around, but what sort of people are willing and wanting to buy a tiny house?
And what was it like, Michelle, living in just 26 metres squared for eight years?
Yeah.
And actually, I remember that.
Now that I think about it, actually, Andrew, because we recently did a podcast about the perfect floor plan, and we were talking about what constitutes a habitable room.
And it's just occurred to me that that bedroom that I slept in when I was 19 years old
would not meet the definition of a habitable room because it didn't have any windows in it, which is quite funny.
I was in this tiny place that would have been, I think it was about 22 square metres, my first ever apartment in Auckland.
