We are going to dinner.

We are going to the theatre.

And that was so wonderful.

And he seemed loving and gentle and very kind.

And I just so loved being with him.

How much did he share about the rest of his life with you?

A lot.

He talked a lot.

Now, in hindsight, I can see that he really wasn't very interested in asking me very much about myself.

My understanding was that he'd had a very difficult divorce from his ex-wife, who he told me was quite mad and needed medication and didn't always stay on the medication.

And when she wasn't on the medication, she was very irrational.

He had two children who he adored.

He lived on the harbour in a house that he'd designed and built himself with the children.

He had one week custody with them.

Then they went to their mother.

When he didn't have custody, he spent a few days with me and then went to the farm.

He claimed to have this farm.

in the country with just a shack, not a house, just a shack.

And he'd sent me photographs of the shack, which was a very, very rudimentary dwelling, and described it in text messages in such vivid detail.

And he described the country and going slashing and fixing fences and shooting foxes and slashing sift and weed.
