What changes are being considered here?
I feel like we could do a whole podcast episode on that one alone, but we do have to move on because there's a couple of other areas I want to touch on.
Now, trusts, there are more than a million of these in Australia and Jim Chalmers is considering changes to how they are taxed.
What would that look like?
Look, the other area and the last one we'll discuss today is around electric vehicles.
There's a tax break that exists for those vehicles.
The government is reviewing that tax waiver.
Can you explain briefly what it is and how it works as it stands?
Now, you know, all of these issues, they're all ideas, they're all reforms that we could see in this space.
But at the end of the day, the average person listening to this might be going, well, I feel really worried at the moment about, you know, my hip pocket and my budget's bottom line, not the federal government's.
Given everything we've discussed today, Matt, do you think regular everyday Aussies should feel worried at any of these changes coming through in terms of how it might impact them and their hip pocket?
Matt Grudnoff, thank you so much for taking us through some of the changes we might see on May 12.
We appreciate your time.
Thanks for chatting with me.
That was economist Matt Grudnoff speaking with me there.
And that is all for this episode of The Briefing.
Appreciate you being here with me today.
I'm Sasha Barbagat.
See you next time.
