Well, I mean, how do we know that Caleb is only going to be a second line?
We don't know this.
We don't know any of this stuff yet.
And I think if you're taking Caleb at number three, I don't think you do so if you think he's a second line center.
I think you do so because you think he has the upside to be a first line center.
Yes, absolutely.
And also the other part of it is a lot of the Mal Holtra opinions were based on his projection before he took off, which was maybe a third line center tops out at a second line center.
But what we've seen, and this has kind of become the most compelling argument for him, is his production and his effectiveness game in and game out as the season goes on is putting him into a different category all of a sudden.
So I think you have to
Not view him as a static player that people had this opinion on about his upside seven, eight months ago versus what he's putting on tape for you right now.
So to me...
I don't think that's a fair argument against Caleb.
If you think he's going to be a top line center, well, you take him a third overall.
But if I'm having a hard time figuring out who's the best, that's why I'm intrigued.
You finish third.
What if you go down a spot or two?
You get one of those players and you get something extra back in return as well.
That's something to me that I'm really intrigued by if the Canucks finish number three.
And I wouldn't be as intrigued if they didn't have three or four guys.
I'm like, all right, I'll be happy with any one of these four players.
