Yeah, it's going to be fascinating to watch.
We're chatting with Matthew Fairburn from The Athletic covering the Buffalo Sabres.
And you had a piece alongside your colleague, Thomas Dranz, who's part of the station here at Sportsnet 650, about Kevin Adams being granted permission to chat with the Vancouver Canucks about their vacant GM position.
And I know that over the years, you've done a lot of reporting on the work that Kevin Adams has done.
First of all, in terms of the acumen that Kevin Adams brought
brings and obviously there's lots of ups and downs with over his tenure in Buffalo and some good things too of course what could the Canucks be getting if Kevin Adams is indeed the next GM and I'm not saying he is or has the inside track just the idea of him being a GM yeah I would be somewhat surprised if he jumped right back into a GM job this quickly but I think what has happened in Buffalo over the last four months has
Yeah, and honestly, it's one of those things where you look at his CV because initially he worked on the business side of things.
If you take everything away and just look at what he was doing before the GM spot and what the Canucks are looking for here is maybe bringing somebody in that's going to be in an executive position but not the GM that would handle the business side, you would look at it and say, well, maybe Kevin Adams fits that.
But is there any sense that he was good at doing those things anyways in terms of the business side of the game?
Yeah, absolutely.
And that's where usually there's some connection when people do talk to some of these candidates.
But Matthew, really appreciate you giving us some time here.
And we'll chat again, hopefully down the road.
Enjoy the playoffs.
And hopefully it's a long playoff coverage for you with the Sabres this year.
Thanks so much for having me.
I'll talk to you soon.
There's some good things, some bad, but the whole leadership aspect leaves a lot to be desired.
But then when you look at, like you mentioned, the ties, he won the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes when Rutherford was there.
He's very familiar with them, so they know each other, obviously.
