I'm a little lower on Keaton Verhoff than at least the public sphere seems to have been over the course of the last two years.
I started raising some flags about Keaton all the way back to Sarnia earlier.
at U-17s almost two years ago now.
And I just caught back from the Frozen Four in Vegas and thought he really, really struggled in the semifinal there and in a couple of important games down the stretch at North Dakota.
And I wonder a little bit about his boots and his
Decision-making, not quite like David Juracek in those two areas, but both of them in terms of the pivots and some of the clumsiness over his feet.
And then some of the decision-making does worry me a little bit with Keaton relative to, like Keaton's still a top 10 pick in his class all day, but I'm talking relative to a Chase Reed and Albert Smith, the Carson Carls, players who I now have in front of Keaton on my list.
And then Mal Holtra, absolutely based off of everything he has accomplished this year and the way he has played from day one in Brantford to
through to an excellent playoffs thus far.
I believe he has eight goals in seven games, 13 points in seven games, I believe.
And he has been sensational.
That team is one of the deepest teams in junior hockey, arguably the deepest team in junior hockey.
There was an expectation after they traded for Jet Luchenko, a borderline top 10 pick for the Philadelphia Flyers a couple of years ago.
And they already had Jake O'Brien, a top 10 pick of the Seattle Kraken.
There was an expectation that he might sort of stay on the third line, which is where he started this season.
