17 prescription drugs that needed brand names.
And that number has just trended upward over the years.
So last year, almost 50 new drugs hit the market.

And, like, why are there so many more drugs being approved now?
Just sheer growth in the industry, for one thing.
More and more drugs being developed, especially with cancer.
