I'm proud of the fact that because I won, because I won, when I came to the Senate,
We were able to pass a law that allowed Medicare for the first time to negotiate with Big Pharma the price of prescription drugs.
Now, I want you to think about that.
First of all, the fact that we had to pass a law so that Medicare could even negotiate tells you everything you need to know about the outsized impact of these corporate interests, Big Pharma, Big Oil, you name it.
We had to pass a law for you to be able to do what you ought to be able to do in any capitalist society.
If somebody's trying to sell me something, I ought to be able to argue with them and haggle over the price.
And literally, it was illegal to do so.

And people feel that.
They're not wrong.
The poor white people.
People in Louisiana, they rightly see that there's a disconnect between where they live and the conversation.
Poor Black folk growing up in rural parts of Georgia, same thing.
And somehow we've got to get back to a politics that centers ordinary people.
Look, I'm a pastor.
