Now you might say, it's just the fact that this group has skills or has the confidence or, but when we look at it, both groups actually have self-doubt.
Both groups are experiencing that negative voice of,
Yeah, maybe you can't do this.
Oh, maybe you're not so worthy.
Oh, you're not going to be able to keep it up.
There's this inner criticism that is occurring.
Yet the group that succeeds acknowledges that they have that voice.
They do not internalize that voice and they take action anyway.
Why?
Because they trust themselves.
That was the biggest mind-blown moment for me when I realized the goal is not to eliminate self-doubt.
We don't need to try and eliminate that critical voice that we have because that's just a function of the human brain.
The brain is wired to, well, we often say it's wired to protect us, but there's a bit more to it.
The primary function of the brain is to make sure that the rest of the body does what it needs to do using the least amount of metabolic energy.
And part of that is protecting us.
Because if we're safe, it's less effort for the brain, right?
When we recognize that the brain is just wired to keep us in our comfort zone because it's less effort for it.
Because if you try the thing, do the thing, and it doesn't work out, that's a lot more work for the brain to get you through that.
So its primary function is to magnify all the things that could go wrong so that you don't take the action because then it has succeeded.
Totally.
