It's happening on autopilot default.
And so in those moments, if you can literally just say, okay, care less, I'm gonna focus on what I can control.
You re-engage those prefrontal regions, which are responsible for logic and rationality, and you see a decrease in activity in the emotive centers, simply by focusing your attention.
It is so remarkably powerful.
Attention is I think our greatest superpower, right?
You just shift your attention.
So I started doing that and it was working great.
And then my husband said,
Okay, it's great that you've got the care less, but what are you countering that with?
What are you caring more about?
And I thought, oh yeah, I'm missing the other side here.
I need to remind myself to care more about impact, helping just one person, being of value, being of service.
And so now I go through the process, care less about what they think, care more about being of value.
and it's incredibly powerful because it reminds me of what i'm doing stops that external locus thinking the overthinking the what-ifs the catastrophizing if you're in a position where you feel like you're overthinking you might be judged you might be criticized i encourage everyone who is watching or listening grab a piece of paper split it in two on the left right care less on the right you want to write down care more and then you literally list the things
Remind yourself of that.
It's such a simple practice, but it's almost a form of also reframing what is happening to focus on really what matters.
