And it's called stimulus control for worry.
And when we do that, so you capture the worry during the day, you say, okay, I'm not worrying about you right now.
I'll come back to you later.
And then you give yourself that space to worry.
It shrinks the worries to size.
It also means you're not having to address it in the moment when you have that big emotional reaction that comes with the worry.
wow i mean you're also creating a container for it completely and that's what yeah stimulus control you're giving it some degree of uh as you said a container so that you can better control it and then manage it and then do something with it because you're asking yourself what can i do with this wow is there anything i can do and then at the end of the week review all of your worries and determine what patterns am i seeing here are they showing up when i'm with certain people because often what we find
Any kind of self-doubt, overthinking, worrying, it will be associated with certain stimuli.
Meaning, it's when you're left alone for too long.
It's when you haven't really slept very well.
It's when you're around people who lead you to doubt yourself.
So there'll often be almost a trigger point, which is leading to that, to becoming magnified.
And that kind of data gathering allows you to just have a better handle on it and determine, okay, do I need to change some things in my life?
Maybe not spend so much time with this person or acknowledge that, okay, I need to be getting more sleep or making sure I'm maintaining my exercise.
A lot of people find if they don't maintain their exercise, their minds become overactive.
Yes.
We've seen this fascinating correlation where if you're not working your body, getting that beautiful hormonal cocktail that comes from the exercise,
the mind can start to take on a life of its own.
And the overthinking becomes more.
And that's why a lot of people say exercise helps them manage their anxiety, helps them manage their stress because of this link.
