trying to run someone over with his car or his jeep it was described as an act of maliciousness and only for a bollard or a pole was in the way he would have completely run someone over on purpose and he was given a largely suspended sentence I think

I don't know how much time he actually served for that crime, but he was shown leniency before and he repaid society by going out and committing a complete, callous, unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public who was just going about his business.

Yeah, I think he described it as reckless crime.

To me, it's a lot more than reckless.

It was intentional and it was unprovoked.

The judge even acknowledged that he saw no reason why O'Neill got off his bike and approached Martin.

It didn't make any sense to any of us.

Intention, I think, is interesting.

We don't know what his intention was, but he didn't have good intentions.

He made a number of choices, I suppose.

He chose to stop his bike and pull in in front of the taxi.

He chose to get off his bike and approach Martin.

And he chose to...

use violence on him for no reason.

Honestly, I don't think he cared whether he killed him or he permanently caused brain damage or anything.

If you are using serious force and punching someone in the head, you have to understand that that can have serious repercussions, if not death.

So the intent bit does bother me.

Yeah, so the initial reporting, obviously we were in complete shock that this happened to someone like Martin and outside her front door as well.
