But it's also very solid for college athletics and the financial future of that to have that connection to the NFL system.
as well so it's it's a mutually beneficial relationship right now and some of those lines are blurring right now because college athletics is the one pushing further and further out it's not the nfl necessarily encroaching into college football space yeah the i hear what you're saying there um i you know it i i get it they they could that's a good way to put it that you know college football is wonderful but they but they were always playing bowl games at those times
Yeah, I think that that's something that will be inevitable, right?
Because even if it only goes to 16, we're going from four first-round games to eight.
And, again, you know, I think that, like, you talk about New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, that's pretty easy to stack a bunch of games on.
With those first-round games especially, you can't necessarily do regular weekdays.
You have to do, for the most part, Friday and Saturday of that week because people are still working.
It's not a holiday weekend or anything like that.
So I do think that eventually, even if it's just going to 16, we're going to have to move to some sort of model like that.
Now, again, the thing that sort of happens in exchange is that all of a sudden,
these games are a little bit less eventized than they would have been in this previous model, right?
Where everybody's tuning into the same game, everybody's talking about the same game.
Well, you know, again, it becomes a little bit more of a normal college football Saturday, as opposed to, you know, a big giant, everybody's talking about it,
So again, it's a trade-off that you have to, I think, weigh in some ways.
And again, that's why, for example, you know, if you're paid X amount for first round games right now, it's not necessarily going to be as simple as, you know, the network come to you and say, we want to do double what that was because these games are going to have diminishing marginal value.
But I do think that eventually out of necessity, frankly, we are going to move to having these staggered starts and potentially having games going on at the same time, because again,
Again, when we start going to eight first-round games or even more than that, potentially, if we get to 24, it's going to be hard to avoid those situations.
Yeah, I mean, it's a big deal, right?
Because I think that with Texas Tech, I mean, they obviously invested handsomely to get him on campus.
