The equalization there is that we will see what he does.
There's no hiding from the decisions he's going to make in the weeks to come.
There's a couple of ways he can go with it.
You know, he can say, listen, Hoffman is truly out of sorts and we're going to throw him like straight up low leverage innings right now.
Like we're going to bring him in in the sixth inning when we're down four runs.
We just need to see him pitch and be somewhat effective and look like himself before we start dabbling with anything that is close to high leverage.
I think that would be a valid way to go about it.
Now that is a big demotion and it's a pretty serious thing to do it that way.
But again, I think relatively justifiable based on what they've seen, or they could say, we're going to do a small demotion.
You know what, Jeff, you've been really good.
in the seventh, eighth in the past, what he did with the Phillies.
He was truly one of the best relievers in all of baseball for a couple years there.
And he was working kind of in the role we see Louis Varlin do now, where sometimes it's over one inning, sometimes it's when the team is in trouble.
And I'm not saying they're going to drop him in bases loaded one out the first time out, but they might say, why don't we just experiment with this, Jeff?
You were so good in that role before, and Louis is super hot.
Let's do it that way and have him take β
kind of a slight demotion as opposed to the full reset and i'm not sure exactly which way they go about it but you probably don't need to see him do that much you know i don't know how many outings you need to see four outings where he looks okay three i like where you draw that line is going to be interesting but i wouldn't mind kind of giving them low leverage work and say like let's see three half decent outings in a row and then we'll reevaluate from there
Yeah, how you win or lose affects whether you win or lose in the future.
You know, if you're consistently winning, if you have a, I don't know, let's say you have a 10-0 record in one-run ballgames, you kind of know, like, we can't keep winning like this.
This is not the way it's going to work.
