We saw that last season where the New York Yankees came to town and the Jays were three and a half or four games behind and they ended up leading the division and they carried it from that point on.
When you're just trying to take care of your own business, these other teams can potentially be winning too.
Most of them are pretty good teams, so it takes a long time to make up that ground.
It's going to be later in the schedule.
They start to really get into the AL East thick of it where...
if they are able to, they'll have the chance to make up that ground and get out of this hole, which, to be fair, they've won three in a row.
So they've done a little bit to do that, but the work is ongoing, we'll put it that way.
valenzuela's abilities like the height of what he can do is pretty impressive he can hit the ball really hard he's got one of the better arms from behind the plate that you're going to see the issue with him is just will he ever have the level of consistency at the big league level to establish himself and you know he hasn't done that yet it's not like he's been absolutely brutal but he's not produced a ton offensively he's had a couple of kind of nervous moments behind the plate as well not so much recently i think he's settled in in the last few games but
Heinemann did quite a bit for the team last year.
I'm not sure that Valenzuela, as much as he's tantalizing, is going to take his job until he shows that he can consistently produce at the plate and kind of iron out some of the kinks behind it as well.
There's talent there, probably more talented than Heinemann to be honest, but Heinemann is a veteran and he's done at this level before.
We saw in his first outing as well that he made a nice defensive play, which is not something you expect from a guy who has very limited pro experience, let alone MLB experience.
And it's hard to give him too much credit on this one because mainly what he did is a good defensive play and then...
Two amazing defensive plays from Jimenez and Clement behind him that robbed line drive singles, basically.
Those were two of the four outs he got.
The other one was his own defensive play.
So it's not like he absolutely blew guys away from a pitching standpoint.
He got a little bit lucky, to be honest, but a big spot for him.
He survived it.
And generally speaking, he's kept runs off the board.
